Motion tracking technology provider OptiTrack will highlight its real-time solutions for efficient, precision animation at GDC 2022 in San Francisco, CA. OptiTrack’s demo in booth #S564 will include performances by acrobats on aerial hoops wearing motion capture suits with markers, which will be tracked by an OptiTrack system including PrimeX 22 and PrimeX 41 cameras, and the latest version of Motive software that features a highly accurate skeletal solver. Additionally, OptiTrack will showcase a real-time MetaHuman demo with full body, hand, and finger tracking, the latter of which enabled using StretchSense software and hardware in Unreal Engine.
“Performance capture has long been a valuable resource for AAA game development; however, high-quality tracking systems have remained out of budget for indie game studios. OptiTrack challenges this status quo with its complete lineup of premium, cost-effective optical motion tracking cameras. When coupled with Motive’s ‘Quantum Solver,’ the resulting systems produce accurate, artifact-free data—even in heavy occlusion scenarios,” said Neil Abrew, OptiTrack Brand Manager. “Adding more options for precision finger tracking into OptiTrack’s robust ecosystem is another crucial piece of the puzzle as the rise of interest in the metaverse drives new animation needs.”
"We're on a quest to make virtual worlds more accessible, which requires a whole-of-community effort. Together with OptiTrack, we are helping the makers of the future build these worlds. Our collaboration makes it easier for production teams to spend more time on creative performances and storytelling with hands rather than configuration and cleanup. We look forward to demonstrating this at the show," said Chris Komatas, Chief Operating Officer, StretchSense.
With the latest Motive software, OptiTrack systems deliver highly accurate human movement and object tracking with incredibly low latency, and support for industry standard tools including Epic Games’ Unreal Engine and Unity Technologies’ Unity real-time platform.
