Rising star brings artistic innovation and dedication to a well-earned position
Optimus today announced the promotion of Hovig Menakian to editor. Based out of Optimus <a href="www.optimus.com/sm.>Santa Monica, Menakian most recently cut spots for the Taco Bell® Doritos® Locos Tacos launch, which are airing now. An avant-garde artist with a dedication to his work and clients, Menakian brings a unique combination of skills to the position.
“Hovig has consistently impressed clients with his mix of artistic talent and professionalism,” said Optimus <a href="www.optimus.com/sm.>Santa Monica Executive Producer and Managing Director Therese Hunsberger. “Since starting with Optimus more than four years ago, he increasingly has been in demand by clients. We’re thrilled to give Hovig the chair that is so well deserved.”
With almost a decade of experience in the industry, Menakian has edited a wide range of work, from the recent Taco Bell spots to PSAs to music videos and movies, including the romantic comedy “Bed & Breakfast.” Menakian came to Optimus in 2008 from Terminal Media/89 Editorial as an assistant editor. From there, he worked his way up to senior assistant editor in 2009 and then associate editor in 2011.
“I’ve worked hard to achieve the goal of editor, and I am thrilled to be taking this significant next step here at Optimus,” says Menakian. “Optimus is such a supportive environment, and it gives me the opportunity to bring my creative background and passion to client work. I’m excited to keep up the momentum in this new role.”

“Ǝvolution” Comes Full Circle At The Chelsea Film Festival
The Chelsea Film Festival, running from October 16th through October 20th, 2024, at Regal Cinemas here in Union Square, is set to host the East Coast premiere of Ǝvolution, a thought-provoking experimental micro-short film that proves big ideas can come in small packages and in perfect circles.
In just 1 minute 16 seconds, this cinematic gem by Award-Winning Director Romina Schwedler, with original music by Argentine Composer Ignacio Montoya Carlotto, explores a cycle as old as time: life leads to progress, progress leads to destruction, and destruction, well, leads back to life. But is this vicious circle unbreakable? Ǝvolution suggests the answer is yes, unless we decide to open our eyes.
Inspired by the overwhelming number of recent events that threaten human existence, Ǝvolution, possibly the shortest film in this 12th edition of the festival, plays out entirely through the symbolism of circles, cleverly illustrating —in the blink of an eye— the repeating patterns of history, and confronting viewers with the uncomfortable truth that our so-called “progress” may, in fact, be guiding us to our own ruin.Premiering at the Regal 14 Union Square, New York City, on October 18, 2024, at 11 a.m., Romina Schwedler's micro-short, featuring Leah Young with cinematography by Alan J.
