Seasoned, Talented Flame Artist brings Effects Expertise to Production and Post-production House
Leading production and post-production house, Optimus, today announced the addition of flame artist and visual effects talent Paul Rosckes as its new visual effects supervisor. Paul is an artist with many skills, and has earned notable admiration from his industry peers and clients.
“Paul is a remarkable guy who has the talent to create that surprising extra effect or special touch that you’d never expect,” said Optimus President Tom Duff. “He is an effects production expert, as well, and we hear his accolades from clients, former post-house colleagues and peers within our own Optimus walls.”
Paul honed his visual effects expertise at full service post-production house Avenue Edit, where he designed visual effects and graphics for national commercials. It was there that he further developed his talent and reputation, and has been sought after on the freelance market ever since. After freelancing for Optimus for some time, it was clear that Paul was a great fit for the Optimus family.
“Paul is a great addition to Optimus,” said Optimus Partner and Effects Director Glen Noren. “With his years of experience as a flame artist, he has been on countless shoots and has tons of experience and passion for effects work. After freelancing with Optimus for more than a year and getting more and more involved in shoots, it made sense to add him permanently to the Optimus bench. He also is great at mentoring our younger effects talents and helping developing them further.”
“Optimus has an outstanding visual effects and motion graphics team that shares my passion for finding new ways to approach visual effects challenges,” commented Paul. “Post-production is such a collaborative process that it’s great to feel like part of a team that’s working toward the same goal. With such a strong group in place, it’s easy to come into Optimus and feel comfortable here. Also, with ONE at Optimus doing live-action production, there are even more opportunities to develop high-quality visual effects from the ground up.”

“Ǝvolution” Comes Full Circle At The Chelsea Film Festival
The Chelsea Film Festival, running from October 16th through October 20th, 2024, at Regal Cinemas here in Union Square, is set to host the East Coast premiere of Ǝvolution, a thought-provoking experimental micro-short film that proves big ideas can come in small packages and in perfect circles.
In just 1 minute 16 seconds, this cinematic gem by Award-Winning Director Romina Schwedler, with original music by Argentine Composer Ignacio Montoya Carlotto, explores a cycle as old as time: life leads to progress, progress leads to destruction, and destruction, well, leads back to life. But is this vicious circle unbreakable? Ǝvolution suggests the answer is yes, unless we decide to open our eyes.
Inspired by the overwhelming number of recent events that threaten human existence, Ǝvolution, possibly the shortest film in this 12th edition of the festival, plays out entirely through the symbolism of circles, cleverly illustrating —in the blink of an eye— the repeating patterns of history, and confronting viewers with the uncomfortable truth that our so-called “progress” may, in fact, be guiding us to our own ruin.Premiering at the Regal 14 Union Square, New York City, on October 18, 2024, at 11 a.m., Romina Schwedler's micro-short, featuring Leah Young with cinematography by Alan J. Carmona, will be sure to spark conversations longer than the film itself! Forcing viewers to reconsider the true meaning of evolution, not just as a biological process, but as a reflection of our collective journey as humans.
With a string of festival appearances across the globe, including CineGlobe at CERN (Switzerland/France), Oscar®... Read More
