Leading production and post production house, Optimus, today announced that it has launched its second annual Optimus “One Shot” contest. The contest, staged in partnership with the firm’s brand marketing agency, Scott & Victor, LLC, is a rallying call to the Chicago advertising and freelance communities to showcase genuine creativity and generate excitement about Chicago as a creative environment. This year’s contest brief is for non-profit organization ShelterBox, which provides emergency aid for victims of natural disasters anywhere in the world.
“After the success of last year’s award-winning One Shot ‘Done’ spot, we’re thrilled to be launching the second annual contest to showcase the fresh work of young creative talent in Chicago โ all for a good cause,” said Tom Duff, president of Optimus. “This year, we chose to develop a spot for ShelterBox because of the global charity’s focus on disaster relief assistance with an all-in-one life saving shelter.”
Optimus and its production arm ONE at Optimus chose to focus on ShelterBox because the organization helps people most in need around the globe. The charity’s solution to disasters is the ShelterBox โ a tough, green plastic box containing a 10-person tent and ancillary equipment designed to enable a family of up to 10 people to survive for at least six months. Since its inception in 2001, the organization has assisted more than 800,000 people and operated in 57 countries โ responding to earthquakes, floods, hurricanes, tsunamis, wars, volcanoes, etc.
“When we first heard about ShelterBox, we knew it was the perfect fit for the One Shot contest,” said Victor LaPorte, partner of Scott & Victor, LLC. “We look forward to seeing the creative scripts that result from this year’s brief.”
One Shot Contest Eligibility Criteria
This year’s contest will be open to ad agency and freelance creatives with fewer than five years of industry experience to provide these professionals with much needed quality material for their reels. Scripts will be judged by a panel of industry experts based on content, style, originality and creativity, and the winning spot will be produced and finished by Optimus and ONE at Optimus. The deadline for script submissions is July 1, 2009.
