Leading production and post house Optimus today announced that it promoted Marina Bacci to senior audio engineer and Ben Treimer to audio engineer. Optimus Audio – comprised of Bacci, Treimer and Audio Assistant Zach Scheitlin – has worked with many of the top agencies through Optimus Editorial for clients such as Blackhawks, CDW, Huggies, JCPenny, Glade, Olive Garden, Always, Payless, Marriott, Blue Cross Blue Shield and McDonalds. The sound team also has developed relationships outside the production and post house’s walls on work such as a “Bobby & Iza,” a pilot that won NBC’s Playground competition and is now being developed into a web series.
“Optimus Audio loves finding solutions to tricky audio situations, as well as bringing spots to life with sound design,” says Bacci. “We are fast working, flexible, and collaborative, bringing together our different backgrounds and mixing styles to create bigger and better mixes for our clients. As clients are working on projects that incorporate 360 video and virtual reality, we are working with our design and editorial departments to bring their 360 videos to life with interactive spatial audio. In addition, we are working more on long format pieces such as web series, short films, and feature length films. Through such projects, we have been able to grow our relationships with editors and directors at other post houses, in addition to those here at Optimus. We love having the opportunity to meet new clients and collaborate creatively.”
Soon after beginning as an Intern at Optimus in 2009, Marina joined the audio team as an assistant engineer. She ascended to full engineer in late 2012, and has been running the department since May of 2015. Marina’s creative talent is unmatched and her endlessly positive energy and warmth endear her to clients and coworkers alike.
Treimer came to Optimus from Nashville during the summer of 2012 as a freelancer, lending a hand to the growing audio department. He quickly became an integral part of Optimus Audio and grew into his role as a full-time assistant. In mid-2015, Ben began taking on his own sessions in the fourth floor audio room. Since then, he has drawn praise from coworkers and clients on work such as the ONE/Hog Butcher award-winning short film, “No Other Way to Say It.” Ben also has done music production work for the likes of MuteMath, Emmylou Harris, Vinyl Thief, Matto Rules and Kevin Max.
“My new role is a representation of a growing department that is gearing up to take on even more new challenges and projects,” comments Treimer. “I’m excited to continue contributing to Chicago’s post community in a more meaningful way.”
Adds Bacci: “Ben has stepped into his role with ease and grace, and I am excited to see and hear the projects that come out of his room. Zach also has played a huge role in the success of the department. He is attentive and always one step ahead of us to keep everything organized and sounding great.”
