Once again, copywriters in mourning over their dead radio scripts have a shot at bringing them back to life. Oink Ink Radio, a bicoastal agency specializing in the creation and production of award winning radio commercials, has announced its call for entries for its annual Dead Radio Contest.
The contest, which has become wildly popular over the years, is now in it’s 12th year. Frustrated copywriters are invited to submit their best un-produced radio scripts that have been “collecting dust since their untimely deaths”, according to Oink Ink president, Dan Price. The script judged to be the best will be produced by Oink Ink, free of charge. And its lucky creator will receive an all-expense-paid trip for two to Oink Ink‘s production studios in New York City or Venice, CA, to attend the recording session.
The contest has breathed new life into many first-class scripts. In fact, six of the winning spots convinced previously-doubting clients to change their minds and to air the once-dead spots. And each of those ultimately went on to achieve success at national and international awards shows; including a Mercury winner, Cannes Lions winner and Clio, Addy and London International winners.
Dead Radio top honors last year went to Phil Davies of Door Number 3 in Austin, TX. His humorous spot, “Paged,” was written for Southwest Airlines. “I entered the Dead Radio Contest for the same reason every one else does: I knew I had written a good script…but for circumstances beyond my control, it never saw the light of day,” recalls Davies. “Finding out I won was truly a highlight to my ad career.”
The deadline for entries is May 15, 2009. For further Contest information visit www.oinkradio.com or call 800-776-OINK
