New York Festivals® <a href="http://www.newyorkfestivals.com.main.php?p=2,10″>International Advertising Awards will honor Bob Carr, award-winning commercial Film Editor with Red Car Chicago, with one of the first ever NYF Living Legend Awards. Mr. Carr will be presented the award on Thursday, May 5th at the 2011 <a href="http://www.newyorkfestivals.com.main.php?p=2,10″>International Advertising Awards <a href="http://www.newyorkfestivals.com.main.php?p=4,4,10″>New York Show, in New York City on May 4th & 5th at Skylight West.
The NYF Living Legend Award recognizes prominent industry luminaries whose personal excellence and extraordinary contributions have advanced the field of advertising, made a lasting impression on the creative community, and who continue to influence the profession in a significant way.
“There is much I could say about how honored and proud I am to receive an NYF Living Legend Award, but you’d probably cut my remarks in the interest of brevity – something no self-respecting editor can abide. Therefore, I will keep my comments short and relatively un-editable by simply saying to you: ‘awesome, thanks.'” โ Bob Carr, Film Editor Red Car, Chicago
“Bob Carr is a game changer. No matter the project, director or creative team. Bob always adds a dimension you never envisioned. His creative ability to orchestrate performance, music and storytelling into the editing process is one of a kind. Living Legend or a Legend Living. Either way I want him on my team,” said Lewis Williams, Chief Creative Officer, Burrell Communications.
Bob Carr’s legendary editorial skills have been put to use on some of America’s most famous and award-winning television commercials. Mr. Carr’s client list boasts some of the most prominent companies in the US: Anheuser Busch, Coke, Ford, Gatorade, Levis, McDonalds, 7-UP, Toyota, and United Airlines.
Throughout his career, Bob has worked with some of the advertising industries most illustrious directors, including: Michael Apted, Leslie Dektor, Bob Giraldi, Michael Grasso, Rob Greenberg, Norm Griner, Steve Horn, Tony Kaye, Adrian Lyne, Joe Pytka, Ridley Scott, and Peter Smillie. He has received numerous accolades for editing from the most respected international award shows in the industry including three New York Festivals Gold Medals.
“There is never an end to the challenge of finding new ways to tell stories and keep the message interesting,” said Bob. “It’s still a craft to me, and I’ve always said, the tools change but the craft remains the same. Crafting and polishing, finding the subtleties, happy accidents and genuine moments, all still give me the most joy. Getting new dailies is always like opening presents on Christmas morning.”
His editorial career began as a runner for Edit Chicago, where he learned the craft from the ground up. Joining Optimus in 1973, Bob spent 20 years with the post-production giant, first as an Assistant Editor, later promoted to Film Editor, and then finally held the title of VP/Senior Editor & Manager of the Film Department. He launched NuWorld Editorial in 1993 with partners Yamus, Joe Malecki, and Michael Labellarte. For the past 11 years, Bob has been at Red Car/Chicago doing what he loves best, editing.
Bob, well known as a workaholic, also served on the Board of Directors for the A.I.C.E. Chicago Chapter, and as President of A.I.C.E. from 1997 to 2001.
Larry Bridges, Founder, Red Car, Inc. had this to say about Bob Carr’s editorial talents, “Bob’s legacy? Bob Carr streamlined the articulation of each shot in his edits, made each shot flow with such efficiency and emotion that no director could walk onto a TV Commercial set without considering Bob’s editing style.”
