HOLLYWOOD -- (SPW) -- Nominations for the 2017 METROPOLITAN FASHION AWARDS honoring outstanding achievements in fashion and costume design in motion picture, television, and live performance were announced today by Metropolitan Fashion Week Founder Eduardo Khawam. The winners will be revealed during the 5th Annual
Metropolitan Fashion Week Closing Gala and Fashion Awards to be held
Thursday, October 5th at Warner Bros. Studios.
Winners in each category will be voted on by the Metropolitan Fashion Awards Committee. The general public will have an opportunity to vote for the People's Choice Award. To share the People's Choice ballot and to vote click

In addition to the awards, guests will enjoy a one-of-a-kind fashion show featuring haute couture gowns and costumes inspired by artwork from the
J. Paul Getty Museum and created by national and international celebrity costume and fashion designers. The show is produced and directed by Eduardo Khawam, fashion expert, producer and TV personality for Telemundo, Univisiรณn and the CW.
"We are so excited to receive a record number of entries from all over the world," said Khawam. "The enthusiastic response of the entertainment and fashion community is remarkable. These awards are unique because they also embrace fashion influencers in television, film and live performance."

In the past, Metropolitan Fashion Week has raised over $13 million for charity. This yearยs Metropolitan Fashion Week Project Imagination's goal is to raise over 1,000,000 school supplies for underprivileged schools. All school supplies collected between Metropolitan Fashion Week Opening Runway Show – Costume Contest & our Metropolitan Fashion Week Closing Gala & Fashion Awards show on October 5, 2017 will be donated to hurricane affected schools in Texas and Florida.
