New York Festivals announced the Call For Entries for the 2009 Innovative Advertising Awards. Now in its sixteenth year, this premier advertising competition has celebrated the most innovative and creative digital, interactive and emerging advertising and marketing from around the world. The competition’s categories encompass everything from guerrilla, viral and ambient marketing, to website, advergames, and campaigns that include on-line elements. Other categories include event/nightlife and mobile marketing, street teams, and legal graffiti.
Last year members of the New York Festival’s international jury honored the Grand Trophy Award winners for the 2008 awards, choosing recipients from among the highest scoring Gold Medalists in the competition. Goodby Silverstein & Partners, San Francisco took home the Grand Trophy for “Milk Get the Glass Site” for their client, the California Fluid Milk Processors Advisory Board, which also won a Gold Medal for Best Microsite.
Lowe Brindfors of Stockholm, Sweden swept the awards with a formidable eight Gold Medals in a wide variety of categories, encompassing Outdoor, Corporate Information, Best Integrated Campaign, Best Consumer-Targeted Website and Best Design, all for work they created for international lager brand Stella Artois.
Recent winning Gold Medalists include: Nordpol+ Hamburg, Hamburg for “Power of Wind” produced for Epuron/German Ministry for the Environment; Scholz & Friends, Berlin for jobsintown.de, “The Wrong Working Environment – Cigarette Automat & Washing Machine”; and Big Spaceship, Brooklyn for HBO “HBO Voyeur.”
All of 2009’s Innovative Advertising entrants will be judged by a panel of new media and guerrilla marketing experts from around the world. Judging criteria includes: ability of the entry to communicate its message, idea or appeal; design; structure and ease of navigation; interactivity and functionality; originality of the creative/communicative approach; creative concept; marketing impact; and overall user experience.
Winning entries of the Innovative Advertising Awards are featured on the web in the New York Festivals showcase section www.newyorkfestivals.com. Award winners are also promoted internationally by a network of NYF representatives in 62 countries around the world.
