Design & branding agency The Nation kicks off the summer with a recent move into a new space and revamped website, as well as projects for Yahoo!, Netmining, NY1 and AOL.
Opened in October 2011, The Nation specializes in creating award-winning and powerful visual identities, bringing brands to life across motion, print, digital, mobile and environmental touch-points.
“As we approach our first anniversary, we’re excited by the opportunities we’ve been given to create unforgettable experiences for our clients in advertising, film, TV, interactive and media,” says Linus Lam, Partner/Managing Director. “To accommodate our steady growth and network of clients and talent, we’ve moved into a new space in Chelsea, close to where many other boutique agencies are located. And we’ve redesigned our website to better showcase both our motion & video projects, and branding work.”
Lam and The Nation partners, Creative Director Alejandro Melguizo and Senior Art Director Ariel Eroles, have a long history of working together, originally meeting at creative services agency Lee Hunt Associates and then interactive agency Razorfish. They reconnected when Lam joined CA Square in 2010, where Melguizo and Eroles were former founding partners, before spinning off to form The Nation.
“Our name reflects our continuous plans for expansion,” explains Melguizo. “We’re ‘The Nation of experiences,’ which encompasses our diverse disciplines and strategic alliances. We are passionate about our clients’ brands, and helping them tell stories that will set them apart. We know how to navigate the increasingly fragmented media landscape, move their brands across formats, and ultimately, connect on every device.”
Some of the company’s latest project highlights, which are featured on the website at wearethenation.com include:
• Genome from Yahoo! For the new online advertising solution, The Nation created a one-minute video showcasing Genome, designed the new logo and delivered a complete branding package, including all Identity items, such as stationery, business cards, email signature; sales and communication collateral, including media kit, sales presentations, case studies; a print, OOH and online advertising campaign; a temporary "brochure website” at www.genomeplatform.com, which is currently being designed into a full website; as well as a style guide for Yahoo!’s creatives and other vendors to execute the new brands.
• Right Media from Yahoo! For the online advertising exchange, The Nation created the new logo and logo animation, along with all ID, sales and communication materials. They also redesigned the website.
• Netmining Netmining is a provider of display targeting solutions. The Nation designed a new graphic language package for all ID and communication materials, and created a series of infographics to feature and explain the sometimes-complicated technology of the industry. They also spearheaded content strategy for the new website and realignment of Netmining’s message points and site architecture. The newly designed website employs a “reactive layouts” that adjust dynamically to different browser platforms from desktop and tablet to smart phone.
• NY1 The creative team has enjoyed a long-standing and fruitful relationship with Time Warner’s local news channel as evidenced by the numerous collaborations, and several Emmy Award wins for Melguizo and Eroles’ work on the 2010 “Rail and Road Reports” spot and “NY1 Web” promo, and the 2011 “It Ain’t No Rocket Science” show package.
Upcoming work for The Nation includes a feature film title sequence, show packages for VH1 and PromaxBDA Latin America, as well as a TV spot for Viggle.
