Codex Digital, the leading developer of digital media recorders and media management systems for film and television production, today announces full support for Avid® DNxHD® 444.
Codex Digital is one of the first companies to fully integrate the Avid DNxHD 444 codec into all its products, including the Codex Digital Lab, Codex Transfer Station for Mac OS X and the brand new Codex Vault series. The ground-breaking Codex Virtual File System (VFS) allows the user to transcode to DNxHD 444 as well as other types of Avid DNxHD for generating MXF deliverables.
“Codex has done an amazing job integrating the DNxHD workflow across its entire product line,” said Adam Green, Senior Director Worldwide Marketing, Post and Pro Segment for Avid. “With the addition of DNxHD 444, Codex has upped the ante on providing field recording solutions for all levels of production—from on-set through to editorial.”
Codex products allow productions to capture at the highest possible quality, for example ARRIRAW with the ARRI Alexa camera, and then provide a simple workflow for archiving the original camera files and making deliverables for editorial. “Avid is a natural partner for us,” says Sarah Priestnall, VP Market Development. “The majority of shows that use Codex for recording and making deliverables use Avid solutions for editorial. Being able to output MXFs using Avid DNxHD 444 raises the quality bar for deliverables.” Unlike the DNxHD files produced by some other systems, the files produced by Codex systems do not have imported into Avid through AMA (Avid Media Access) and so are not linked but accessed directly, streamlining the editorial process.
Recent Codex projects include “Skyfall”, “World War Z”, “Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close”, “The Lone Ranger” and “21 Jump Street”
Codex will be demonstrating their entire product line at NAB, Booth C9811.
