MRC Television Achieves Studio Best with 21 Nominations and dick clark productions Lands Six
MRC received a record 27 nominations for the 72nd Emmy® Awards, with leading independent studio MRC Television and brand dick clark productions, part of the newly formed MRC Live & Alternative, both earning multiple nods.
Cementing its status as the leading independent studio, MRC Television received 21 nominations, with each of its three eligible scripted series recognized. “Ozark,” which recently announced its fourth and final season, also achieved the series’ best year with 18 nominations bringing its cumulative nominations to 32. Today’s nominations for the series include Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series (Jason Bateman) and Outstanding Lead Actress In A Drama Series (Laura Linney), Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Drama Series (Julia Garner), Outstanding Writing For A Drama Series (Chris Mundy), and two directing nominations (Alik Sakharov, Ben Semanoff). Bateman also received a nod in the Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series category for his work on “The Outsider.” The satirical comedy “The Great” received two nominations, with writer Tony McNamara nominated in the Outstanding Writing For A Comedy Series category and Matt Shakman recognized in the Outstanding Directing For A Comedy Series category. “The Outsider” and “The Great” are produced by Civic Center Media in association with MRC Television.
dick clark productions was recognized with six nominations: two for the “77th Annual Golden Globe Awards” bringing its cumulative Emmy nominations to 16; three for “So You Think You Can Dance,” which has previously won 16 Emmy Awards and received 68 nominations; and one for the “2019 American Music Awards,” which now has 17 nominations.
MRC’s partners A24 and Fulwell 73, where it holds minority investments, also received nominations with A24 recognized for “Euphoria” (6), “Ramy” (3) and “At Home With Amy Sedaris” (1), and Fulwell 73 for “Carpool Karaoke: The Series” (1).
