The Motion Picture Sound Editors (MPSE) will explore new technologies for vocal processing in the latest in its series of Sound Advice events, set for April 26th at Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City.

Matthew Collings, general manager of Edinburgh, Scotland-based Krotos Audio will describe innovative sound design tools his company has developed, including Dehumanizer, a vocal processor, and Reformer Pro, a tool for analyzing and designing sound effects in real-time.

Collings leads the development team at Krotos, whose products have been used on such projects as Avengers: Age of Ultron, The Jungle Book, Far Cry, Doom and Stranger Things. He is also an accomplished composer and sound designer. He has produced commissioned works for Glasgow City Halls, Dundee Neon Digital Arts Festival and Glasgow Short Film Festival. He has exhibited work in galleries in Iceland, the United States and the United Kingdom.

“We’re expecting an informative and lively session highlighting new tools available to sound editors that can enhance the creative process,” said MPSE President Tom McCarthy. “Our Sound Advice events are designed to bring sound professionals and technology companies together to share insights, and work together toward improving the craft of entertainment sound.”
