Production company ModOp Films has signed prolific indie short form filmmaker director Wendy McColm. McColm’s recent digital branded short for H&M “Rendezvous and Other Stories” stars French It-Girl and blogger Jeanne Damas and screened at this year’s Tribeca film festival. The company has also added a full slate of national representation.
Writer/Director McColm is a product of the digital age. Her popular YouTube channel is a hub of her original storytelling and has earned over 30 thousand subscribers and over 30 million unique views. Her quirky comedic sensibility also shines in her acting roles on MTV’s Hey Girl, Community, and How I Met Your Mother, and as a performer for Upright Citizens Brigade. “I’ve basically spent the last eight years making things I like, exploring topics and genres, and giving myself creative challenges,” explains Wendy McColm. “After the H&M project I knew I wanted to do more brand work. I love the fact ModOp Films is all about being open to creative exploration and how best to apply the work to the intended audience. We connected immediately.”
McColm’s expansive digital presence, along with her background in photography, writing, and filmmaking was a pitch perfect match with ModOp Films, which was launched to provide 360 solutions to brands and agencies.
“We are excited to work with Wendy on advertising projects, from commercials to web,” says EP Rossi Cannon. “Wendy McColm is an amazing talent and knows how to cultivate a following for her work in a way that is unpretentious, authentic and incredibly infectious.”
“Increasingly, clients want more than just a :30 spot and that’s where ModOp Films comes in,” adds EP Steve Schofield. “She can concept and create work for any screen – and that’s the ModOp Films way.”
In addition to the signing, ModOp Films is now represented by Grade A Management for West & Texas, KKReps for the Midwest, and Bethanie MacMillan for East Coast representation All cited ModOp Films’ 360 capabilities and multitalented roster as key reasons to sign the company, sister company to Modus Operandi.
