Three of Modern VideoFilm’s leading talents will share their views on emerging trends in post production at the Hollywood Post Alliance’s renowned HPA Tech Retreat, February 9th – 13th at the Hyatt Regency Indian Wells. Now in its 21st year, the Tech Retreat is a unique gathering of top creative, technical and business leaders working together to find solutions to the most compelling and complex issues facing the media and entertainment industry today.
Supervising DI Colorist Dave Cole will take part in a Super Session titled “Sensory Simulation.” Cole is a two-time HPA Award-winning colorist for his work on Ang Lee’s Life of Pi and the pilot for the CW television series Reign. His many other credits include the films TRON: Legacy, Pride and Glory, Alvin and the Chipmunks 1-3, The Ides of March, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter and The Book of Life. His work in television includes Sleepy Hollow, Scorpion and Jane the Virgin.
The Sensory Simulation Super Session, hosted by cinematographer Daryn Okada, ASC is set for Tuesday, February 10th at 2:50pm.
Modern VideoFilm Vice President/Creative Services and Managing Director/Location Services Greg Ciaccio will address a breakfast roundtable on the subject “Protecting the Look from the Set Through Delivery.” The event is scheduled for Thursday, February 12, from 7:30-8:30am.
At Modern, Ciaccio focuses on finding new location-based technology and workflow solutions for the facility’s motion picture and television clients. A 20-year veteran of the post production industry, Ciaccio is a member of SMPTE, ASC Technology Committee, AMPAS Sci-Tech Council, HPA, and DCS. Last year, he shared an HPA Judges Award for Creativity and Innovation as part of the ASC Technology Committee’s DI Subcommittee for the creation of the ASC CDL.
Chief Systems Engineer Siegfried “Sieg” Heep will participate in panel discussion on new DPP and IMF delivery formants. Moderated by industry analyst Debra Kaufman, the DPP IMF Panel is slated for Thursday, February 12th at 2:45 p.m.
A member of the Modern VideoFilm team for more than 30 years, Heep is one of the post production industry’s most talented and dedicated engineers and has contributed to the development of many new workflows and delivery formats. He is a longtime member of SMPTE and has served as technical director of its annual Honors & Awards ceremony for several years, along with participating in the SMPTE Technology Committees for D-Cinema and IMF standards. He also serves on the Technology Committee of the American Society of Cinematographers (ASC) and is a contributor to ACES (Academy Color Encoding System).
