Mobius Awards, an international advertising and package design competition, has opened its 2017 competition with a variety of new opportunities for entrants. Expanded entry options include categories in Health and Wellness, Animal/Pet Products and Services, and Financial and Lifestyle Products and Services. Work entered should have been created between Oct. 1, 2016, and Oct. 1, 2017.
Entries are invited in Brochure/Book, Cinema-In-flight, Direct, Mixed Media Campaign, New Media, Online, Outdoor, Package Design, Photography, Point-of-Purchase, Print, Radio, Television and Student. Package Design categories include Sustainable Packaging and Packaging Redesign.
Mobius Awards, founded in 1971, is an independent competition that uses worldwide judges who access entries online. No judge knows how another has voted on an entry. The exception to online judging is packaging, which is viewed by two sets of judges, an in-person group and online judges.
“It’s always exciting and informative to be able to see and touch packaging when making decisions,” says Lee Gluckman, chairman of Mobius Awards who is always on hand at the packaging event in Los Angeles.
Awards include a First Place Mobius 24-karat gold statuette and a Second Place Certificate for Outstanding Creativity. Best of Show-Grand Prix and Best of Show (Grand Prix) Nominee awards selected from First Place Mobius Awards winners. They are chosen from among First Place winners and based on judges’ recommendations. Judges are not required to select winners in each medium or category, which means some mediums might not have a Best of Show winner every year. The intent, says Gluckman, is to award creativity and effectiveness and “not just give awards.”
