Los Angeles –- Mirror Films‘ Director/DP Chris Woods collaborated with ad agency Cannonball on a new, Social Media-fueled campaign for Red Baron. Featuring Howie Mandel, the new spots show viewers who the “Real Deal” is when it comes to pizza: Red Baron. Rolling out a new spot a week for 6 weeks on Red Baron’s hugely popular Facebook page (almost 98,000 Likes!), the campaign features TV funny man Mandel popping into the homes of average American families to find a winner in the rivalry between Red Baron Pan Pizza and delivery pizza.nn

Throughout the campaign, Mandel throws a Red Baron pizza in the oven and then orders a pizza from a local pizzeria to have the families compare and contrast the two in order to find the real deal.nnWoods was the perfect choice to shoot an unpredictable celebrity talent like Howie Mandel interacting with real people. “The challenge here was we didn’t know what was going to happen, so we made sure to have cameras every where to capture the unexpected,” explains the Director/DP. “After the first few hours of shooting, it was clear that we just had to let Howie do his thing. I didn’t want to stop rolling the cameras when Howie was interacting with the families, because you might miss something great. It was definitely shooting from the hip, and we shot way more footage than we would need. I gave Howie the parameters at the start, and just let him go. The results are hilarious, and he was great to work with.”nnShooting a campaign meant primarily for a Social Media launch had one great advantage too, for this commercial director, who also shoots documentary films. “We were able to let the scenarios play out,” comments Woods. “They were planned as 3-minute pieces, so we had more time to just try things, and weren’t limited to 30 or 60 seconds.”nnnnOther recent projects for Mirror Films‘ Director/DP Chris Woods includes a short film for legendary Hawaiian Airlines historic 80th anniversary shot in a documentary-style as a cornerstone for the company’s anniversary celebration, as well as a series of commercials via SPINMASTER for the cross-promotion of Tron: Legacy" & How To Train Your Dragon, the movie. Woods directed and DP’d commercial campaigns for Chevy, Dodge, Michelob Ultra, Budweiser and Busch Gardens. A long-time collaborator with SeaWorld, Woods worked on a series of film and media projects with the national marine mammal park throughout 2010.nnCredits:nAd Agency: CannonballnCreative Director: Brian FaussnArt Director: Josh KirknExecutive Producer: Garry GasselnnProduction Company: Mirror FilmsnDirector/DP: Chris WoodsnExecutive Producer: Eric BarrettnHead of Production: Lorraine SchreyernProducer: Alexandra LiseennEditorial Company: Coolfire Media/St. LouisnEditor: Kevin JohnsonnnAbout Director Chris WoodsnChris Woods is a Director/Cameraman who has helmed over 500 commercial campaigns for numerous national and international clients worldwide. Goldcrest Post Speeds Delivery of “Severance” Season Two
The New York Times recently wrote that the just-released Season Two of Severance will “blow your mind”—and we couldn’t agree more. Created by Dan Erickson and Ben Stiller, the Apple TV+ drama is smart, spellbinding, distinctly original and packed with surprises. For those who aren’t already devoted fans, the show centers on Mark Scout (Adam Scott), leader of a team at Lumon Industries, whose employees have undergone a “severance” procedure that surgically divides their memories between their work and personal lives. Goldcrest Post provided post services for both seasons of the show, including picture editorial support, sound editorial, ADR and sound mixing. Editorial for Season One began in 2020. Due to the restrictions imposed by the pandemic, Goldcrest supplied both onsite production offices and edit suites, and remote editing systems for individual editors, with everything linked to a central server. "Mixing at Goldcrest with our team has been a great experience,” says Stiller. “Bob and Jacob are in sync with our creative process and so good at what they do that the experience is always one where it's about how we can enhance the creative vision, with a baseline of knowing everyone is totally committed to making something as good as it can be." Diana Dekajlo, the show’s co-producer, says that the arrangement worked so well, they chose to continue the hybrid approach for Season Two. “We’re a remote friendly show,” she explains. “Whether we’re at Goldcrest, our studio in the Bronx or at home, our workflow is seamless. I conduct remote daily meetings with my immediate staff, and weekly meetings with editorial and VFX, and we talk to each other as if we were just down the hall. It makes for great staff... Read More
