Method Studios, a subsidiary of Deluxe Entertainment Services Group Inc., has significantly expanded its New York presence in order to meet growing demand in the region for high-end visual effects work for feature films and commercials. The company, which has recently delivered graphics and visual effects for a number of high-profile features–including The Avengers, Wrath of the Titans and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter–is perfectly positioned to service the growing number of high-end, New York-based features.
As executive producer, industry veteran Stuart Robinson will be at the helm of the New York operation. Los Angeles-based Dan Seddon has been promoted and relocated to serve as creative director. In addition, eight highly talented artists have also relocated from Method’s Los Angeles location to the New York shop.
“Method Studios continues to expand its feature film and commercial VFX operations in Los Angeles, New York, Vancouver, London, and Sydney,” says Dan Glass, Method’s EVP and senior visual effects supervisor. “New York is a growing market for us and we are delighted to now have the talent and infrastructure in place to service that demand.”
Robinson brings to Method decades of experience developing and executing technical and creative solutions at major VFX houses in the U.K. and the U.S. He eventually combined those talents with his abilities to collaborate with clients and explain complex procedures in straightforward terms, ultimately supervising the production of many commercial and new media projects from pre-production through to delivery.
“I’m very excited to be joining the Method Studios team,” Robinson declares. “The company is internationally renowned for its VFX work and for creative approaches to complex technical challenges. It is a perfect place for someone with the skill set I’ve developed over the years.”
Seddon joined Method in Los Angeles as a VFX supervisor in 2009, bringing a wealth of experience with him, including award-winning creature creation and other CGI work. Seddon’s work has landed him three Visual Effects Society awards and two additional nominations, as well as accolades from BAFTA, Cannes Lions and many other organizations recognizing outstanding VFX work. While at Method in Los Angeles, Seddon has worked on a great many VFX-intensive features, including Let Me In, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and he lead the CG team on Wrath of the Titans. “New York production and post is booming,” Seddon adds, “and I’m delighted to be a part of Method’s team in this wonderful city.”
