Audio production company Bar1 has won two more radio Lions in Cannes. The first, a silver Lion is for a campaign for Purina. The hilarious campaign features over zealous humans expressing exuberant joy of an everyday event, similar to the way a dog would respond. The tag line reads “No one loves you that much. Except your dog. Purina, return the love.”
The second Lion is for a campaign for Renault. The spot begins and then is interrupted by another radio spot, coming in at the same time. Eventually, each announcer politely concedes to the other. The idea behind the campaign is to celebrate “driver courtesy day.”
Both campaigns were brought to Bar1 Erik Vervroegen, the head of Europe/international Publicis Paris and Shawn Gauthier CD at Publicis NY. Also involved were Nadia Blake, the Director of Broadcast Production at Publicis and Katie Kelly was the agency producer. They were directed by Joe Barone and recorded and mixed by Tim Leitner and Drew Fuccillo.
"The concepts behind these campaigns were brilliant," says Joe Barone, founder of Bar1. "We appreciate our friends at Publicis putting their confidence in Bar1 to bring great work to the next level. Working with a creative visionary like Erik kept the project fresh and fun. He’s a bona fide superstar. And of course, I learn something new every time I collaborate with Shawn."
"I’m working in advertising for more than 20 years, and it is exceptional to work with people that are bringing their expertise to a project,” adds Vervroegen “Bar1 took good scripts, and made them great. The acting, the timing the humour, the details….everything was there. To me, the best recording studio on the planet"
Gauthier adds, “Working with Joe Barone is like having an extra writer, actor and director on every record. He never stops thinking of ways to plus the work.”
