NY/Chicago-based mcgarrybowen and Bikini Editorial editor Avi Oron chose NY-based Sonic Union mixer Steve Rosen to deliver futuristic espionage in the new action-packed :60 “Payload” for the Verizon Wireless Droid Razr. The spot, directed by Biscuit Filmworks’ Noam Murro, features a man on a dangerous high-speed mission to recover a hijacked box containing the new Motorola Droid Razr. Rosen worked closely with Machine Head sound designer Stephen Dewey to seamlessly create the audio environment to engulf the audience in this energetic adventure.

“Payload” opens with a young boy whispering something to a leather-dressed man, immediately launching him into motion on his motorcycle. We cut to shots of a futuristic military convoy pouring into the city’s streets. The man expertly speeds by the vehicles in a tunnel, launching ninja stars as he passes. As the streets begin to turn into an inferno of warfare, the man spears the side of a vehicle and enters from the top. He quickly disarms the vehicle and launches its contents into a nearby van awaiting the mysterious box. As the man approaches the box in an empty warehouse, it begins to mechanically unveil the matter within, displaying a small item above the box to his amazement. The item rotates forward, revealing the new Droid Razr accompanied by the iconic “Droid” sound. We cut to a super, “Too powerful to fall into the wrong hands.” The spot closes with the Droid Razr logo.
The resurrected Razr brand, now infused with advanced Android capabilities, will be launched exclusively through Verizon Wireless tomorrow, 11/11/11 at 11:11a.m. nationwide.
