1.2x PL to PL Expander makes it possible to use vintage zoom lenses with current large-sensor cameras.
Manios Digital & Film has reached an agreement with cinema lens maker Veydra to become the exclusive, worldwide distributor for its innovative new lens accessory, the Veydra 1.2x PL to PL Expander. The Expander makes it possible to use vintage zoom lenses from the Academy-format era with current generation Super 35 and larger sensor cameras.
The Veydra 1.2x PL to PL Expander expands the image circle of vintage zoom lenses from 28mm to 36mm diagonal with only ½ stop light loss. Such lenses can then be used with RED’s Epic Dragon and other PL-mounted digital cameras with sensors larger than the Academy aperture, up to a 34mm image circle. The Expander is also compatible with the Angenieux Optimo 24-290 cinema lens.
“The Veydra Expander gives vintage zoom lenses a new lease on life,” says Manios Digital & Film president Steven Manios Jr. “Cinematographers can once again use their favorite vintage zoom lenses and recapture the classic film looks of yesteryear.”
“We are very excited to team with Veydra in introducing a product that is a great addition to the cinematographer’s toolkit,” Manios added.
The Veydra 1.2x Expander works with the following lenses (new focal length):
♦ Angenieux 24-290mm T2.8 Optimo (29.348mm T3.4)
♦ Angenieux 17-102mm T2.9 (20.5-122mm T3.5)
♦ Angenieux 25-250mm T3.5 HR (30-300mm T4.2)
♦ Angenieux 25-250mm T3.7 HP (30-300mm T4.2)
♦ Cooke 18-100mm T3 (21.6-120mm T3.6)
♦ Cooke 20-60mm T3.1 (24-72mm T3.7)
♦ Cooke 20-100mm T3.1 (24-120mm T3.7)
♦ Cooke 25-250mm T3.9 MK II (30-300mm T4.7)
