In the endless seas of reality romance, dating, and self-improvement shows, “Man Oh Man” seeks to offer viewers something different. The new show will take on the challenges and fears men face when playing the dating game. The colorful topics, personalities, and experiences infused in the show help to send a message that is funny, edgy, and informative.
The show’s creator, Tim Maloney, believes he has a break-through reality program: “First of all it’s about real people and real issues that men across the country will be able to relate to.” Secondly, he adds that, “There are also going to be new experts each week who are nationally recognized for their knowledge and talents in their respective fields.” Lastly, the show is focused on a male audience looking for intelligent advice that they can utilize in their own lives.
“Man Oh Man” will market towards an age range of 20 to 40 and from the virgin to the divorced guy, will cover a wide range of issues.
“The goal is not to help these guys find love, though if that happens, great. The goal is to help these guys gain the confidence and skills to be happy with themselves,” says Maloney. Different from many romance-themed reality shows, “Man Oh Man” has the specific mission to not be considered a dating show. Instead the focus is leaned towards a self-help show for men, in an effort to help each man reach their own full potential.
“We are teaching how to be a total man,” says Maloney. The contestants will gain new insight each week for how they can become the men they want to be.
“It’s all about confidence. The confidence to go up to a girl, talk to her, and ask her out; and also the confidence to be ok if she says no,” says Maloney. When asked if this show will finally help men to untangle their web of confusion, Maloney just laughs saying, “Men will never fully figure women out, but we’re sure going to have fun trying.”
The contestants will be subjected to lessons and challenges provided by the hosts and guest ‘gurus,’ and then followed out into the real world to see how they progress. Each also has the opportunity to win $100,000, as voted on by the viewing audience.
