Today, Portland, Ore.-based film production company Limbo Films announced a new television spot produced for Nikon Sport Optics via client Chevalier Advertising. Nikon, a client of the Lake Oswego, Oregon-based agency for 14 years, is marketing the <a href="www.NikonCuttingEDG.com.>Nikon EDG binocular to an elite class of hunters who are passionate about their sport. The spot will go live July 2008 on national outdoor and sports cable shows on networks including Versus, ESPN2 and others.
Limbo Films Director Gary Nolton intriguingly captures the intensity and skillful precision required when hunting upon mountainous terrain, utilizing a team of expert mountaineers for the one-day shoot on Mt. Hood Oregon’s highest peak. Nolton chose the location based on his familiarity with the mountain, and the Timberline Ski Patrol’s experience working with film crews.
“The instinct for agencies is often to look outwardly to seek locations for shoots, but it’s really amazing at times what can be done our own backyard. I am not a hunter, but for finding rugged locations I am so familiar with the wilds of Oregon I know immediately when we can stay within her borders.” said Nolton.
The two actors cast for the spot are the real deal: real-life avid outdoorsmen who are familiar with traversing rugged turf and whose climbing expertise was critical in order to meet the physical demands needed. Most of the 28-second spot demonstrates the inherent risk hunters endure, surmounting extreme terrain and illustrates how a sport is as much about the journey as it is about the end result. Nikon appeals to the intelligent hunter, whose chances of success are optimized by using their state of the art binoculars, a superior tool in a hunter’s arsenal.
<a href="www.NikonCuttingEDG.com.>Nikon EDGs are the pinnacle of the Nikon product line, with retail beginning at $2700. It’s the first binocular to use Nikon’s highly acclaimed ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass. The exclusive glass was developed to eliminate chromatic aberration, which occurs when light rays of varying wavelengths pass through optical glass. <a href="www.NikonCuttingEDG.com.>Nikon EDG binoculars offer high contrast images that are extremely bright, razor sharp and free of flare. Chevalier Advertising’s Creative Director, Robin Kizzar, chose Limbo for this project based on Limbo’s experience working in the outdoor market. “This was our first project together and Gary’s crew was very organized and efficient while filming at high altitudes and in adverse conditions. He totally grasped and delivered on the concept based on the initial storyboards,” continued Kizzar.
