Animation studio LAIKA/house President Lourri Hammack announced a new partnership with The Standard Society for Midwest representation for commercial production.
“We are delighted to join forces with Katy and Heather as they embark on their new partnership. They are fierce forces of nature and The Standard Society gives them a new venue to ply their craft for matchmaking phenomenal production partnerships,” Hammack said.
The newly formed Chicago-based team of Katy Richter and Heather Guillen (aka The Standard Society) launched their talent-representative venture this spring, but the two are veterans in uniting creative people in the advertising and production communities.
Richter began her career with Hillary Herbst and joined Liz Laine Reps in 2004 where she worked with the country’s leading animation talents including LAIKA/house, Framestore, Eyeball and JJ Sedelmaier. Katy has a wide range of experience and knowledge in animation, motion graphics, visual effects and live action.
“We are the next generation in talent representation; we combine professionalism, good humor, wit and above all, excellent service, to bring our clients and partners success in the new era. We aspire to carry a reputation in the Midwest for delivering top creative solutions,” said Richter.
Guillen began working for Gay Guthrey in 2005 and helped expand their roster to include Stimmung, Logan, Assembly Films, Pony Show and PrettyBird in addition to maintaining relationships with production giants MJZ and Biscuit Filmworks.
Guillen: “We intend to be the asset that agencies call upon with new assignments and new challenges. Producers and creatives will rely on The Standard Society to match talent and offer ground level creative support. Our reputation will be built on our willingness to make our clients look good, put out fires, and hold hands while always communicating on their level and never condescending.”
The announcement from LAIKA/house follows on the heels of the addition of Carlos Andre Stevens to its in-house director roster. Stevens was most recently a Director/Creative Director at LOGAN/NY and previously held a directorship at Superfad/Seattle after completing his studies and launching his career in Portland.
“We are continually expanding our creative capabilities at LAIKA/house, and have several seriously inventive projects we’ll be unrolling this year. With our feature film studio also in full production, it’s a glorious time to be making animated magic in Portland,” Hammack exclaimed.
