Runway, a leading independent supplier of editorial systems and related technology to the film and television industry, announced the appointment of Johnathon Amayo as Vice President of Engineering. Johnathon has over 20 years of experience in engineering, operations. Johnathon brings with him industry know how, a following of trusted relationships with a broad range of clients.
“As we grow our organization the need for strong engineering leadership and staffing will be critical to our success,” said Runway President Jeff Buchignani. “We are embarking on a strategic path to expand our footprint to new markets and services. With laser sharp focus on industry trends, both Johnathon and Rwaana will strengthen and extend Runway’s leadership position.”
Johnathon has a clear set of plans for Runway: “Helping our customers and partners sort out the wide range of workflows is at the top of the list. Creating simple clearly focused processes and tool sets to navigate the ever changing file formats, and camera standards, will allow us and our clients to leverage the next generation of media creation and distribution.” Johnathon has been active in the transition from film to tape, and tape to files from several perspectives. Johnathon’s experiences include camera person, editor, producer and educator. Johnathon recently finished producing and directing a feature film for Truck20, Inc. He has also held management roles at Moviola, RTD Studios and Avid. “What is exciting for me is that we have Runway’s extensive operations and engineering professionals ready to take us through this exciting time in our industry,” said Johnathon.

In a related move, Runway has hired Rwaana Barnes to join the engineering staff as Senior Engineer. Rwaana has a solid 20 plus years in operations and support of editing and post production facilities and services. Rwaana was most recently Senior Engineer with Hula Post Production.

Runway executives, Daniel Bernato and Daniel McGilvray, brokered the deals to bring on Amayo and Barnes.
