Entertainment studio Electus, producers of such television shows as Style By Jury, Wake Up Call and House of DVF¸ has adopted WCP Media Services’ cloud-based content management platform, WCP Web App, for the international distribution of television content. Electus is currently using WCP Web App for the digital delivery of television shows to broadcasters in Latin America, France, Australia and Canada, and plans to extend the service to other outlets in coming months.
WCP Web App is a PaaS (platform as a service) product that provides a fast, direct, secure and affordable way to upload, manage, transcode and deliver content to broadcasters and others worldwide. Electus is using the system as an all-in-one solution for managing digital assets, including television shows, marketing material and other content, and delivering them to international customers according to their individual timetables and specifications.
“WCP Web App allows Electus to deliver television shows to customers worldwide quickly, efficiently and accurately,” said WCP Media Services Managing Director/Americas Kenneth Yas. “The system includes sophisticated tools to manage the complexities of digital delivery, yet it is easy to use, both for distributors and their customers.”
Electus had been evaluating digital asset management systems for several years as the industry has been moving away from the tape-based delivery of television shows in favor of digital, file-based modes of delivery. “A digital asset management system has to perform exceptionally well in a number of key areas,” explained Electus International Senior Vice President of Worldwide Operations Brad Jorgensen. “It has to be very efficient, technically accurate and easy to use for us to ask our clients to use it.”
Through intensive evaluation, the current version of WCP Web App met Electus’s performance requirements and through the initial roll out to clients, the system has functioned flawlessly. Jorgensen said the system is enabling the faster delivery of content with fewer errors while reducing costs. “Trust is our most important business asset,” he said. “When we deliver broadcast media, it has to be right. If you miss an air date, it costs money. Our clients are very pleased with their experience with WCP. There have been no problems.”
Other U.S. distributors using WCP Web App include Sierra/Engine Television, distributors of such shows as SAF3, Crossbones and Ghostbreakers; and MonteCristo International, distributors of long-form television content.
WCP Media Services will be demonstrating WCP Web App at NAB 2015, April in Las Vegas, Booth SU14410.
