Scott Rhea, a successful photographer who has shot hundreds of fashion & advertising campaigns throughout the U.S. and Europe for the past 20 years is expanding his list of titles as a creative to include both a collection of fine art photography as well as live-action directing.
Rhea’s previous work includes campaigns for such clients as Levis, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom and various international cruise-lines. Honing his personal journey and focus in photography, Rhea’s “An Inevitable Consequence” also demonstrates his professional concentration on directing films and commercials as he was able to shoot underwater live-action as well. Reaching a much deeper level, Rhea dares to embark on a personal exploration of highly stylized and conceptual underwater themes of cause & effect. Featuring technically and visually challenging ideas delivered through the portal of a dreamlike visual state, “An Inevitable Consequence” represents Rhea’s entry into the realm of fine art photography presented in limited edition prints. His unique vision creates hauntingly beautiful worlds that simultaneously threaten and entice the viewer.
The weightless environment of the underwater world and behavior of light in water set a stage for creating a world that cannot be replicated above ground. Collaboration of the many talented people, bravery of the talent, and common belief in the idea that something magical was going to happen were all components that made for the perfect alignment of events for a project like this to be created. — Scott Rhea
Scott Rhea as an evolving artist and director of commercials, music videos and branded content is now represented by The Rella Group, a creative collective that produces and executes content. The Rella Group, along with Rhea, will host a deeply engaging behind-the-scenes video presentation during the opening reception on January 9th and again at the artist symposium on January 10th. This footage showcases the process involved in creating such unique work as well as demonstrating Rhea’s liveaction abilities. The evolution of this project continues to grow as the concepts, crew, sets, and tanks get bigger. As an artist, Scott’s body of work has influenced and awakened areas that will be explored in motion as well as stills both in and out of water. The water is strictly a “location” for him, he is not specifically an “underwater” director/photographer as his talents far surpass this medium. We plan to have an extensive collection of new work in both motion and still in 2010. — Kim Bradshaw, The Rella Group
