Continuing to strengthen its portfolio of high-profile digital intermediate services, Studio City-based illuminate recently wrapped a project for the newly-sold documentary about Russell Brand, “BRAND: A Second Coming,” from two-time Sundance Grand Jury Prize-winning director, Ondi Timoner (“DIG!,” “We Live in Public”). illuminate was tapped by Interloper Films to provide online services, color correction and a digital cinema package for the critically acclaimed film, which follows comedian/author/activist Russell Brand as he dives headlong into drugs, sex and fame in an attempt to find happiness.
Illuminate took on the project in January, working closely with Timoner and Interloper Films producers to complete this feature, which spans over seven years of coverage in portraying the evolution and personal struggles of Russell Brand from a stand-up comedian to an author and activist.
“I can’t say enough about the kind of partners Illuminate proved to be during the finishing of ‘BRAND: A Second Coming,’” said Timoner. “Their dedication to quality, from the color correction and the online, to the creation of the DCP, is absolutely top-shelf, and they have a team of people that are a pleasure to spend time with—which really matters when the pressure it on! They're creative, flexible and always willing to roll up their sleeves to tackle the problems that inevitably arise when a complex film is being birthed, and they always meet the deadline, with the best image quality that can be rendered.”
“BRAND: A Second Coming” made its world premiere at this year’s SXSW Film Festival and was just hours from its screening at the Los Angeles Film Festival when Ignite Channel acquired the distribution rights. The documentary is now set to be released in theaters nationwide.
“We truly enjoyed working on ‘BRAND: A Second Coming.’ This was a complicated project involving footage from numerous sources that had to be conformed and color corrected in a certain way to help tell the story,” said illuminate’s President, Tal Fiala. “We look forward to more successful collaborations like this as illuminate continues to expand its portfolio of services for film and television.”
