Hollywood Center Studios has expanded its green screen and virtual set production resources through the addition of a new, full 1080i HD-enabled Virtual Set Stage for live streaming and/or HD TV broadcasting with virtual or hard sets.
The new HD Virtual Set Stage employs the latest in 3D virtual set technology, which became commercially available just last month. The new HD system can support productions on either of two pre-lit green screen stages on the lot, or can be moved to any of the lots’ hard set stages. Clients can now produce network quality programming in HD or SD for television or online at a fraction of the time and cost of conventional production. It is an ideal solution for talk shows, after shows, live performances, press conferences and many other types of programming.) For online, live broadband broadcasts, clients continue to have the option of using the studios’ highly versatile, SD live broadcasting system.)
“The Virtual Set Stage is a great way to produce high quality and visually compelling content quickly and within modest budgets,” said Ivan Gulas, Director of Virtual Studio Productions at Hollywood Center Studios. “The new HD capability makes it an excellent choice for productions with multiple platform distribution channels, as shows can be recorded to HD for broadcast while streaming live (or VOD) on broadband and/or on mobile devices.”
The availability of these advanced production resources on the lot, in tandem with pre-lit green screen stages, is in keeping with the studios’ long tradition of being a market leader in empowering their clients’ creative potential, Gulas added.
The new stage features an end-to-end HD 1080i pipeline that includes virtual sets (premade or custom built), multi-camera switching, titling, multi-layer effects, streaming and digital disk recording, all in HD. It is possible to mix HD and SD resolutions and aspect ratios. Programming can be recorded to disk at 1080i and/or live streamed in a variety of profiles, including 720p, the highest streaming resolution currently available. The entire system can also be seamlessly connected to Hollywood Center’s nearby green screen stage (82-ft X 53-ft) for productions needing more space.
Recent projects Hollywood Center Studios‘ Virtual Set Stage included a live one hour broadband broadcast of a medical discussion for the world’s leading surgical broadcasting company along with several commercial and infomercial projects, several show teasers and two TV pilots.
