Hollywood Center Studios has appointed Jerry Cole to the newly-created post of Director of Virtual and Broadcast Services. Cole, whose background includes posts with AOL, GlobeCast and Warner Bros., will oversee a department that provides virtual production services for webcasts, broadcast and television production. Cole will focus on developing new business and on growing the studio’s virtual production resources.
“Jerry brings deep, hands-on experience in virtual production and a clear vision for how to grow that aspect of our business,” said Hollywood Center Studios Executive Vice President and COO Tim Mahoney. “Our clients will feel very confident in working with him and embracing this new technology.”
Cole previously served as Head of Business Development at Hayden Studios, a Culver City, California production studio. Prior to that, he served as Director of Technical Operations for AOL Creative Productions. His background also includes service as Director of Production Operations & Special Projects at GlobeCast and Director of Digital Compression Operations at Warner Bros. Cole began his career in graphics design and earned an Emmy Award for his work for CBS’s coverage of the 1994 Winter Olympics.
Hollywood Center Studios‘ Virtual Services includes a newly-expanded Virtual Production Studio equipped with a high definition virtual set system. The studio also maintains some of the largest permanent green screen stages in Hollywood. Virtual production technology, which places talent into 3-dimensional virtual sets, can be used as a standalone solution or in combination with traditional production techniques as a cost-effective way to produce pilots, talk shows, news and sports broadcasts and many other types of programming.
“We provide a virtual toolkit that can be configured in many ways to suit a production’s creative requirements and budget,” said Cole. “We combine that with the resources, experience and responsive service that Hollywood Center Studios in known for and the results are wonderful.”
