Enthusiastic crowds prompt additional openings in Chicago, Los Angeles and other key markets.
The controversial and compelling documentary THE PRINCIPLE opened exclusively in Chicago last weekend to sold out crowds and rave reviews from critics and audiences alike. According to BoxOfficeMojo.com, THE PRINCIPLE achieved the highest per-screen average for a film opening on one screen, and ranked number four in per-screen average overall. The film, which explores the significance of the earth’s place in the cosmos, will now expand into additional theaters in Chicago, as well as key markets such as Los Angeles.
Rick DeLano, the writer/producer of THE PRINCIPLE , explains “We expected a strong opening, but we didn’t expect the outpouring of support we received in the Chicago market. We knew that THE PRINCIPLE would have a great impact on those who viewed the film, and our confidence was renewed by not only the number of people who viewed the film, but the variety. We are excited to bring astounding new findings in cosmology to the forefront, and ask the simple question of if we are significant to a wider audience.”
THE PRINCIPLE is destined to become one of the most controversial films of our time, as it brings before the public eye surprising results from recent large-scale surveys of our universe – surveys which disclose unexpected evidence of a preferred direction in the cosmos, aligned with our supposedly insignificant Earth.
THE PRINCIPLE features narration by Kate Mulgrew (Star Trek Voyager, Orange Is The New Black and Ryan’s Hope), visual animations by BUF Compagnie Paris (LIFE OF PI, THOR, THE MATRIX: REVOLUTIONS, VAN HELSING, HARRY POTTER), and commentary from prominent scientists including George Ellis, Michio Kaku, Julian Barbour, Lawrence Krauss, and Max Tegmark.
Tracing the development of cosmology from its inception (Stonehenge, the Great Pyramid at Giza), through the great revolution of Copernicus, to the astonishing new discoveries of Earth-oriented alignments in the largest structures of our observable universe, THE PRINCIPLE leads us face-to-face with the question, and the challenge – are we significant within the structure of the Universe, and, if so, why and finally, what does this mean for the future of mankind?
Early reviews have been as intriguing as the film itself:
"Remarkable, riveting and profoundly important… 'Principle' dramatizes the excitement and impact of recent scientific discoveries that undermine 600 years of nearly unquestioned assumptions about the insignificant role of our tiny planet in a vast universe. The movie features some of the best minds, and best talkers, in the scientific community raising questions that might have seemed unthinkable just a few short years ago." –Michael Medved, nationally syndicated talk radio host
“…fascinating and the most earth shattering film you will see this year or possibly ever.” – Al Menconi, Al Menconi Ministries
“Groundbreaking, fair and balanced. It’s the kind of powerful, intelligent and compelling documentary you’ll be talking about for weeks!” – Avi Offer, NYC Film Guru
“The documentary itself, as far as film craft, is a work of art.” – Kevin Ott, Rockin God’s House
THE PRINCIPLE is currently showing at AMC River East 21 in downtown Chicago THIS FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 7! With More showings in Los Angeles and other key cities in the coming weeks.
THE PRINCIPLE is distributed nationally by Rocky Mountain Pictures. The film was written and produced by Rick DeLano through Stellar Motion Pictures, LLC and was directed by Katheryne Ktee Thomas of In Ohm Entertainment.
