Los Angeles-based <a href="http://www.helloandcompany.com.>HELLO! breaks the fourth wall for Beyonce’s live concert film, “I Am…World Tour” directed by Frank Gatson, Jr., Ed Burke and Beyoncé herself. The documentary chronicles Beyonce’s 2010 tour with a massive 02 Arena, London concert as its centerpiece, in addition to artist interviews and unique fan profiles. <a href="http://www.helloandcompany.com.>HELLO! produced the 02 Arena segment while Beyonce’s Parkwood Pictures and Columbia Pictures produced the film as a whole.
Music World Entertainment and Sony held screenings of “I Am…World Tour” across the country last week, and the film will also premiere on ABC (click here to view) Thanksgiving night. The DVD will be released nationwide on 11/30. Additionally, Beyonce talked extensively about the film as yesterday’s guest on The View.
<a href="http://www.helloandcompany.com.>HELLO!‘s Sheira Rees-Davies and Dick Carruthers played a significant role in producing the film, especially the 02 Arena concert. For the live multi-camera show, <a href="http://www.helloandcompany.com.>HELLO! flew in the Spidercam from the U.S.A., which was an unparalleled attempt at this venue. This innovative camera enabled epic, sweeping crowd shots that captured the scale of the show. “I Am…World” pays homage to Beyonce fans across the globe, often reversing the lens that is so commonly focused on the performer. Also included are intimate video confessionals from Beyonce that reflect the rewards and difficulties of touring as a high-profile musician.
Director Frank Gatson Jr. began his career as a professional dancer in the U.S. and took off as a choreographer after brining the band En Vogue into the limelight. His impressive choreography resume includes work with such artists such as Destiny’s Child, Beyonce, Kelly Rowland, Michael Jackson, Diana Ross, Mariah Carey, Usher, Tina Turner, Shakira, Nelly Furtado, and Rihanna to name a few. Gatson Jr. has been nominated for numerous choreography awards and won Best Choreography for ‘Crazy in Love’ at the American MTV Awards ’03 and ‘Single Ladies’ at the MTV VMA ’09 Awards. After several award-winning years in choreography and working as an artist visual developer, Gatson decided to extend his talents to directing. His latest video is Beyonce’s single “Ego,” also featuring Kanye West.
