Harpoon Pictures, the NY based production company headed by Executive Producer, Chester Mayer, has added director Alejandro Toledo to its roster for exclusive US spot representation, Chris Miller, Director of New Business Development, announced today.
Alejandro is a visual storyteller. Whether shooting big period pieces or automobiles, Alejandro always creates exquisite visuals and cinematography. His flexibility of directing style, as well as his unique aptitude for interpreting performances and storytelling, has given him a range that encompasses many styles. Toledo has an extensive international background. He has shot all over the world and is fluent in English, Spanish and French. His credits include work for Mercedes, Nissan, BMW, Lexus, Stella Artois, Nike and Kodak. This past summer, Toledo helmed a project for Sabra out of Strawberry Frog here in New York. Toledo has garnered many awards for his work including First Prize at the London Festival for his work on Minolta and First Prize at the New York Festival for his work on Fiat.
“It’s a thrill to have someone of Alejandro’s caliber join us here at Harpoon, says Miller. “While he is known for his automobile work, which is stunning and brilliantly executed, he also has a gift for creating grand period pieces.” Mayer adds, “Alejandro’s work demonstrates a strong feel for production design and art direction. His cinematography is beautiful and his use of visual effects is seamless.”
According to Toledo, “What interests me most as a director is being versatile, able to work in many different genres. Throughout my career, I have attempted to shoot all kinds of spots. It is very rewarding to work within the style that each board demands, to make the portrayal truly unique.”
Harpoon Pictures is represented by Chris Miller in the East coast, in the Midwest by Laurel Dobose at Gypsy and in the West and Southwest by Toni Saarinen & Brandon Pico at Saarinen. For more information, go to www.harpoonpictures.com.

“Ǝvolution” Comes Full Circle At The Chelsea Film Festival
The Chelsea Film Festival, running from October 16th through October 20th, 2024, at Regal Cinemas here in Union Square, is set to host the East Coast premiere of Ǝvolution, a thought-provoking experimental micro-short film that proves big ideas can come in small packages and in perfect circles.
In just 1 minute 16 seconds, this cinematic gem by Award-Winning Director Romina Schwedler, with original music by Argentine Composer Ignacio Montoya Carlotto, explores a cycle as old as time: life leads to progress, progress leads to destruction, and destruction, well, leads back to life. But is this vicious circle unbreakable? Ǝvolution suggests the answer is yes, unless we decide to open our eyes.
Inspired by the overwhelming number of recent events that threaten human existence, Ǝvolution, possibly the shortest film in this 12th edition of the festival, plays out entirely through the symbolism of circles, cleverly illustrating —in the blink of an eye— the repeating patterns of history, and confronting viewers with the uncomfortable truth that our so-called “progress” may, in fact, be guiding us to our own ruin.Premiering at the Regal 14 Union Square, New York City, on October 18, 2024, at 11 a.m., Romina Schwedler's micro-short, featuring Leah Young with cinematography by Alan J. Carmona, will be sure to spark conversations longer than the film itself! Forcing viewers to reconsider the true meaning of evolution, not just as a biological process, but as a reflection of our collective journey as humans.
