Nate Brown has joined CG and design company re:think studios as Partner and Executive Producer.
Brown, a former agency producer at DDB, Crispin Porter + Bogusky and Critical Mass has partnered with Brian Bullock, Jessica Simmon and John McGrath to expand the Chicago-based company. Bullock serves as the company’s Creative Director, Simmon as editor and finishing artist and McGrath as the Operations Manager.
“We’re building a dream team here in Chicago to create world class CG," says Bullock. "Nate is an extremely talented and trusted member of the advertising community and we’re thrilled he’s decided to join re:think studios as Executive Producer.”
In late 2010, Bullock and Simmon founded re:think studios to “rethink” the traditional large post-production studio model by creating a low-overhead structure focused on CG and design.
“I saw the re:think team focusing on CG by building out the pipelines and bringing in the talent to take on complex CG and VFX projects, while providing great value to their clients. Creative teams I worked with were often eager to get onboard with re:think’s creative approaches, and their low-overhead model and resourcefulness made a lot of challenging projects possible for agency clients,” says Brown.
During his agency days, Brown engaged re:think studios for numerous CG and design projects. “Transitioning from the agency side to re:think studios was a natural fit. I had worked with the re:think team on many projects and loved their philosophy and the great work they produced. I saw them embracing a model focused on design and CG that I see a great future in.”
While at agencies Brown saw production evolving and budgets shrinking, “I got to a point where nearly every project I produced required 100% CG or a great deal of it. With production budgets shrinking, CG is becoming a solution due to its creative flexibility, ability to cost-effectively go cross-platform and its tremendous value to clients. I like to view CG as not only a post-production technique, but as a complete production solution.”
Brown joined re:think studios on January 3.

“Ǝvolution” Comes Full Circle At The Chelsea Film Festival
The Chelsea Film Festival, running from October 16th through October 20th, 2024, at Regal Cinemas here in Union Square, is set to host the East Coast premiere of Ǝvolution, a thought-provoking experimental micro-short film that proves big ideas can come in small packages and in perfect circles.
In just 1 minute 16 seconds, this cinematic gem by Award-Winning Director Romina Schwedler, with original music by Argentine Composer Ignacio Montoya Carlotto, explores a cycle as old as time: life leads to progress, progress leads to destruction, and destruction, well, leads back to life. But is this vicious circle unbreakable? Ǝvolution suggests the answer is yes, unless we decide to open our eyes.
Inspired by the overwhelming number of recent events that threaten human existence, Ǝvolution, possibly the shortest film in this 12th edition of the festival, plays out entirely through the symbolism of circles, cleverly illustrating —in the blink of an eye— the repeating patterns of history, and confronting viewers with the uncomfortable truth that our so-called “progress” may, in fact, be guiding us to our own ruin.Premiering at the Regal 14 Union Square, New York City, on October 18, 2024, at 11 a.m., Romina Schwedler's micro-short, featuring Leah Young with cinematography by Alan J. Carmona, will be sure to spark conversations longer than the film itself! Forcing viewers to reconsider the true meaning of evolution, not just as a biological process, but as a reflection of our collective journey as humans.
