Hilary Bristoll has joined Film Detroit as the Detroit Manager for the organization, according to Christopher Baum, Senior Vice President of the Detroit Metro Convention & Visitors Bureau and its Film Detroit division. Film Detroit provides preliminary location scouting, hotel and office accommodation assistance, and 24/7 troubleshooting services to the film and television production community, all at no charge.
“Having worked on film and TV productions in the Detroit metro area, I’ve become familiar with the great resources provided by Film Detroit,” said Bristoll. “I look forward to providing local assistance and connecting producers and location managers with a variety of unique professional location companies and experienced professionals to enhance their filming experience in ‘The D’. ”
Bristoll has spent the past two years in a variety of production roles on locally-based Hollywood shoots, including “Detroit 1-8-7,” “The Double” and “Little Murder,” among others. Prior to working in film and TV, she was in cable TV advertising sales for ABC Family and The Weather Channel.
“Hilary has a great combination of local knowledge and film and TV production experience,” said Baum. “She excels at finding solutions to problems and will be a wonderful asset to the team.” With production in Michigan expected to top more than $400 million in 2010, and the majority of that activity concentrated in the Metro Detroit area, Film Detroit has been expanding its ranks. Bristoll joins Film Detroit’s longtime National Manager, Xenia Castillo-Hunter, and recently announced Los Angeles Manager, Karla Murray, who is based in Southern California.
Concluded Baum, “The recent groundbreaking for Raleigh Michigan Studios further advances Michigan’s commitment to film and television production, and as the industry continues to grow, so will the Film Detroit team.”
Michigan is home to the country’s No.1 film incentive program, which offers up to a 40 percent cash rebate above and below the line. The City of Detroit is one of 100+ “Core Communities” which qualify for the top incentive level of 42 percent, as do many others in the Detroit metro area. Current and recent productions include Clint Eastwood’s “Gran Torino”, DreamWorks’ Hugh Jackman starrer “Real Steel,” the new ABC TV series “Detroit 187,” “Machine Gun Preacher” with Gerard Butler and “The Double” with Richard Gere.
