Ryan Signs with 740 Sound Design as Lead Mixer / Engineer
Eric Ryan, former Mixer/Engineer at Ravenswork, has joined forces with 740 Sound Design. Led by Executive Producer and veteran cinema mixer Scott Ganary, 740 Sound Design is an industry-leading sound design house and a newcomer on the commercial mix landscape. Ryan, now mixing exclusively 740 Sound Design, is determined to change that by filling the missing link in the burgeoning audio-post house. Bringing with him nearly 15 years of experience in commercial mixing, Ryan will helm 740’s premier mix room – and is already booking up. William McGuigan, Ryan’s assistant engineer, will join him.
Since starting a garage band at age 16 and purchasing a PA system, Eric Ryan has “always been the guy turning the knobs.” Ryan began working in live sound production after earning a degree in Music Business at the University of Nebraska, and was soon producing sound for everything from presidential speeches to James Brown concerts and performances by the Colorado Symphony Orchestra. Ryan began his commercial mixing career when he joined Ravenswork in 1996, and subsequently built a dedicated following. His impressive list of credits includes work for major clients such as Coca-Cola, Intel, Ford, Toyota and PlayStation.
Ryan fielded offers from nearly all of the major mix studios in the Los Angeles area, but ultimately chose 740 Sound Design for the opportunity to make his own mark as Lead Mixer for the facility. Ryan cited the quality of 740’s sound design work and its integrated sound design/mix concept as being significant factors in his choice. “I’ve mixed 740’s sound design work on various projects in the past, and I’ve always been so impressed—it’s top-notch, and I’m looking forward to working with some of the industry’s strongest sound designers on a daily basis.”
740 EP Scott Ganary, who mixed movies for over 25 years prior to founding 740 Sound Design, looks forward to working with Ryan as well. “Some people have to work hard at mixing,” says Ganary, “but Eric is a natural – he blends top-level technical expertise with a rare artistry that brings clients’ concepts to life.”
When asked how it feels to begin again with the task of building a new mix studio’s success from the ground up, Ryan emits the cool professionalism of a veteran industry superstar: “business as usual.” He grins, and returns to work.

A&G’s New Third Space Studios Fills A Community Gap
A&G's (Allen & Gerritsen) new Third Space Studios is not just a full-service production offering for the creative agency. It's filling a gap in the community by making a complete video and production facility (live-action studio, production extension, editorial & motion, and audio services for podcasting, voice-over and online audio) available to all. Larger organizations like Blue Cross Blue Shield Massachusetts and Meet Boston, individuals like creators and collaborators, and nonprofits like the Boston Symphony Orchestra and The Wonderfund are already accessing both the space and the affordable creative and production support that comes with it. The Wonderfund has even tapped the studio for an entire brand relaunch. The studio is an extension of A&G’s Third Space, a new concept the agency opened in Boston and Philadelphia last year to give employees, clients, creators, and even startup incubators (Boston currently has two) a place to gather, dream, and innovate in comfortable surroundings. Located inside its Boston location (125 High Street), Third Space Studios is available to the Tishman Speyer building’s tenants who can use its ZO building app to request studio services ranging from studio rentals to co-creation to full-service production. Other businesses nationwide can request services through the studio website. Albolene, Certain Dri, and ThermaCare are examples of national clients that have utilized... Read More
