Patrick Hogan, Emmy®-nominated “Cobra Kai” supervising sound editor, celebrates seven early festival award wins for the short film “Killing Time,” which he wrote and directed, starring Maggie McCollester— with seven more upcoming festivals on the docket. The festival hit will screen this week in the Pasadena International Film Festival (Sept. 10th at 10:00 p.m.) and the Burbank International Film Festival (Sept. 11th at 6:00 p.m.).
Hogan comments, “As a writer/director, I am incredibly excited and humbled by how well ‘Killing Time’ has been received right out of the gate. On the heels of the Emmy nomination, the accolades and awards have surpassed all of our expectations, and I am very grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with such a talented cast and crew on this special film.”
The genre-bending short film produced by Ana Krista Johnson of JohnHog Danger Productions and Sharon Gytri and Lowell Dean of Charger Enterprises has garnered: Best Sci-Fi Short Film and Best Actress–Maggie McCollester (ConCarolinas), Best Narrative Short Film (Big Bear Film Summit), Best Thriller (Rock the Shorts Film Festival), Best Short Film and Best Supernatural Film (New Hope Film Festival), and Best Horror Film (Oregon Short Film Festival).
In this horror/science fiction short film with a twist, a woman (McCollester) goes for a run in the woods and attracts the attention of a mysterious figure who follows her home. When the figure slips in and lies in wait for her, she must face the decisions of her past, with deadly consequences.
McCollester says, "’Killing Time’ has been a dream project from start to finish––with a top notch cast and production team. Patrick is a highly-skilled director with a strong vision and the story he wrote blows your mind. I especially want to give a shout out to the cinematography from my husband and D.P. Hamish McCollester who created the perfect look for the film.”
She adds, “We’re all so proud of Patrick’s Emmy® nomination for ‘Cobra Kai’ and will be rooting for him at Saturday’s Creative Arts Emmy Awards.”
