Hybrid digital production studio Cognition has hired Eileen Godoy as Executive Producer. Godoy will manage film and television projects through the processes of editorial finishing, color grading and deliverables. She will collaborate with sales and play a role in setting strategy and planning growth.
Bringing nearly 20 years of experience in post-production, Godoy arrives from NBC/Universal where she was involved in feature film mastering and restoration. She spent 12 years as a Digital Intermediate Producer at EFILM, supervising final post work for scores of studio and independent films. She brings deep knowledge of film and digital workflows (live action and animation, 2D and 3D), strong managerial skills and a reputation for building customer relationships,
“Eileen is a consummate professional,” said Cognition President of Post Production Reid Burns. “Cognition is growing quickly and we needed someone smart and savvy to help our clients negotiate post production and get the results that they seek. Eileen is ideally suited to that role.”
Godoy’s experience encompasses work with many of the industry’s top directors and cinematographers, including the Coen Brothers (Burn After Reading), Oliver Stone (Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps) and Mike Nichols (Charlie Wilson’s War). She has a particular affinity for working with female filmmakers, having served as Digital Intermediate Producer on films by Ava DuVernay (Selma), Francesca Gregorini (The Truth about Emanuel) and Kimberly Peirce (Carrie), among others.
Godoy says she was attracted to Cognition by its unique business model, commitment to pioneering new technologies and prospects for growth. “I like the company’s boutique feel and entrepreneurial mindset,” she notes. “I want to grow our DI workload, build relationships with studios and independent producers, and introduce people to our capabilities in virtual reality and other emerging technologies. It’s an exciting company.”
Godoy began her career with CIS/EFILM in finance. She later worked at Magic Film & Video Works and Post Logic Studios.
