Eden FX, currently celebrating its 10th Anniversary Year, has provided digital effects to two high profile network TV series finales, and to two network series season finales. These shows were “Chuck,” “Ghost Whisperer,” “Fringe,” and “Flash Forward.” John Gross, Eden FX President, made the announcement.
For the season finale of “Chuck,” which aired May 24th on NBC, Eden FX created digital effects depicting the “blowing up” of the Buy More store in which the Chuck character is employed. This entailed incorporating live action footage of the store’s interior to which were added digital explosions, smoke and fire effects. Eden FX digitally blew out the windows of the store, and depicted the huge sign on the exterior of the store slowly crashing to the ground. Eden FX’s work on the series finale of CBS’ “Ghost Whisperer,” which aired May 21st, included character animations, including a group of young children “crossing over to the other side.” Eden also supplied shadow effects utilizing a Fume software package. The season finale of “Fringe,” which aired on FOX on May 20, featured Eden FX’s work within two sequences of blue screen composites. Eden created an alternate universe apartment of the character Peter, which included an alternate version of the New York City skyline, as well as window frame reflections of both daytime and nighttime scenery. And for the series finale of “Flash Forward,” Eden FX generated and composited elements for the explosion of the Los Angeles FBI headquarters and created a digital helicopter which appears to be flying outside of the headquarters building. Eden added in a digital LA city background, as well as fluttering memo papers flying about, as the helicopter hovers in slo-mo next to the open windows of the building. The finale aired May 27th on ABC. See: http://abc.go.com/shows/flash-forward
