Eden FX, currently celebrating its 10th Anniversary Year, recently completed Visual Effects for the acclaimed HBO Films presentation of “Temple Grandin.” John Gross, Eden FX President, made the announcement.
Working directly with Mick Jackson, the director of “Temple Grandin,” and the film’s production team, Eden FX created and produced green screen composites, crowd and cattle replication and other highly imaginative digital images, as “seen through the mind’s eye” of the lead character, Temple Grandin (played by Claire Danes).
Regarding “Temple Grandin,” Eden FX Senior Visual Effects Producer Andrea D’Amico, said “We’re thrilled to have been involved with this important project from HBO Films. Their content is always so exciting to work on, and it was an honor to work with director Mick Jackson. ‘Temple Grandin’ depicts the story of a woman who overcomes extraordinary odds. It is a story of great social relevance, and we are happy to have played a role in its presentation.”
Adds Eden’s VFX Supervisor for “Temple Grandin,” Fred Pienkos, “Eden was involved with the project from start to finish, providing on set supervision, previsualization, design work and final visual effects. We created “cattle replication”, crowd replication, green screen composites, set extensions and animated transitions. We also designed and created animated diagrams to illustrate how Temple thinks in pictures, for example, showing an entire herd of tiny CGI cattle walking through one of Temple’s original blue prints.”
ABOUT “TEMPLE GRANDIN”
Starring Claire Danes in the title role, the HBO Film “Temple Grandin”
co-stars Catherine O’Hara with Julia Ormond and David Strathairn. Directed by Mick Jackson, the HBO Film paints a picture of a young woman’s perseverance and determination while struggling with the isolating challenges of autism at a time when it was still quite unknown. The film chronicles Temple’s early diagnosis; her turbulent growth and development during her school years; and her emergence as a woman with an innate sensitivity and understanding of animal behavior.
Undaunted by educational, social and professional roadblocks, Grandin drew on her unique talent to create a behavioral tool that revolutionized the cattle industry and laid the groundwork for her successful career as an author, lecturer and pioneering advocate for autism and autism spectrum disorder education.
