Off Pitch, VH1’s reality comedy TV documentary following show tune choir the Grand River Singers (GRS) is lensed by DDA’s Arlene Nelson and airs April 17 at 10pm ET/PT.
Created by Timothy J. Hamilton and directed by Mark Petersen, the series follows the lives of the 20-somethings making up the GRS, on and off stage. Their bickering, politicking, jealousy and ultimately their love for glittered-up performance and bombastic talent all combine in a heady mix of entertainment.
The show sees Nelson, noted for her work on Christopher Guest’s documentary-style comedies A Mighty Wind and For Your Consideration, return to the docu-comedy format, albeit this time unscripted.
The DP captured all the action on Sony’s F-800 cameras, HD 1920×1080.
Nelson is an Emmy® nominated, award-winning film, television and commercial cinematographer. She recently completed photography for HBO Films feature documentary Valentine Road. Other documentaries include Showtime’s Sunset Strip, Awake in the Dream with Academy Award® nominated director Paola Di Florio and co-director Lisa Leeman, PBS American Masters documentary “Troubadours: Carole King, James Taylor” & the Rise of the Singer-Songwriter and Harry Shearer’s Hurricane Katrina expos “The Big Uneasy.”
