double wide media announces the addition of new commercial and digital directors to their lineup: Christopher Radcliff & Lauren Wolkstein, Jody Shapiro, Gary Luk and Autumn Tarleton & Stacey Foster! All of these up and coming directors offer services through double wide that are geared towards mobile and digital platforms as well as cable and network outlets.
First, double wide media introduces the directing duo Christopher Radcliff and Lauren Wolkstein. Their most recent film, “The Strange Ones,” is a narrative short that has grown substantial festival legs and has been an Official Selection at Sundance, SXSW, Clermont Ferrand International Short Film Festival, winner of the Focus Features Award for Best Film at Columbia University, Winner of the Golden Starfish at Hamptons International Film Festival, Winner of Special Jury Prize at IFFBoston and winner of Best Narrative short at ATLFF. “The Strange Ones,” a mysteriously evocative film, follows a man and a boy who find respite at a motel swimming pool when the addition of a friendly girl’s conversation results in a startling discovery. Radcliff and Wolkstein are currently in development on a new scripted web series.
Another filmmaker new to double wide media is Toronto based director Jody Shapiro. Shapiro is a frequent collaborator and producer for Guy Maddin and Isabella Rossellini for many projects including: My Winnipeg, The Saddest Music in the World, and Animals Distract Me. Jody’s directorial work includes Isabella Rossellini’s “Green Porno,” a webby nominated series about the mating habits of insects, and the feature documentary “How To Start Your Own Country,” a hilarious look into the micro-nations that are frequently overlooked by better known and drastically larger countries. “How To Start Your Own Country” was an Official Selection of the Toronto International Film Festival and IDFA. Shapiro is currently in development on a new documentary web series.
Next on double wide media‘s list of up and comers is Gary Luk, an Internet sensation whose knack for combining his experience in the ad business with comedic timing produces hilarious musical numbers that make up the “Asian Shower Dudes” web series. In this series, Gary sings, dances and performs covers of Led Zeppelin songs while guitarist Michael Chan rocks out in the background. The duo accents their performances with wild wigs, fuzzy bathrobes and, yes, shower caps! Gary’s “Asian Shower Dudes” series has been featured on Tosh 2.0, Funny or Die, YouTube and CBSNews.com Online.
Finally, accomplished double wide producer Autumn Tarleton and double wide Emmy winning editor Stacey Foster are moving into the director’s chair with the co-direction of “The Dumpster Project,” a documentary about Mac Premo’s public art piece that features his beloved collection of “junk” and was last seen at Art Basel Miami Beach. Autumn and Stacey’s producing and editing credits for double wide, respectively, include the Isabella Rossellini Sundance hit, “Animals Distract Me,” and the Webby Award winning web series “GQ Rules” for GQ magazine’s online programming, and Made Possible‘s web series Men at Work, which has been released to YouTube and blip.tv. In addition to these credits, Autumn produced Windfall, a documentary that explores a small town’s struggles with industrial wind turbine development, which premiered at the Toronto Film Festival and has a theatrical release set for February 2012. Autumn has also produced In the “Hearts of Africa,” a film about children with diabetes in the Congo through Eli Lilly & Co. Stacey’s additional editorial works include the spot Art Walk ’09 which earned her an Emmy® and Isabella Rossellini’s Webby award winning series “Green Porno” and “Seduce Me.”
