<a href="www.travelingpictureshow.tv.>The Traveling Picture Show Company (TPSC) has carved out a distinct identity in the commercial production industry and is approaching the business in a new way. The company features an award-winning team of producers and directors, a unique business model, a powerful blend of production know-how and creative energy, and an innovative website powered by Simian.
Conceived as a nimble, multi-faceted, creative studio, it has a directorial line-up that includes Chris Woods and Enda McCallion, and it has allied itself with visual effects team (Unit Zero VFX) and London-based music (The Noise Deli) providers to offer its advertising clients packaged solutions for their production needs. It’s also busy outside the world of commercials, operating, among other things, an active feature film wing.
Like any growing company, TPSC were looking for a partner to build a strong marketing plan and that began with a well-designed and highly functional website. Co-founder and CEO Kevin Matusow had previously worked with Simian on another project and was familiar with its media management platform. “I like the user interface and the way it allows us to control content,” he says. “We can build reels and add new media instantaneously.”
Matusow worked with Simian designers to create a site that is well organized, easy to navigate, and, of course, beautiful. The design is clean and distinctive, and places the focus where it should be, on the company’s work. “We came to Simian with a logo and a concept, and they built everything from scratch,” Matusow explains. “They have great designersโฆand they nailed it.”
As good as the site looks, it’s what’s under the hood that counts. Simian provides TPSC with powerful tools to manage its entire sales and marketing effort. That includes not only the ability to build and distribute customized reels, but also to monitor the effectiveness of its sales program through robust analytics. TPSC executive producer Marie Soto can quickly review contacts made by her team of sales reps, note which agency creatives and producers have received the company’s reels, and, importantly, what spots they’ve viewed. In the highly competitive world of commercial production, that type of feedback is priceless.
Soto also employs Simian‘s microsite builder to pitch and manage projects. She, or a member of her staff, can create a microsite in minutes and use it to share storyboards with members of the project’s creative team, manage casting sessions, and set up production schedules. In fact, the microsite feature can be used to keep the project organized and on track all the way through post production, without requiring specialized training. “I can teach people how to use the system in less than an hour,” Soto observes.
TPSC offers a potent, versatile and efficient resource for agencies and others seeking creative, original content, and Simian is helping to ensure it’s hitting on all cylinders. “We really enjoy the platform,” Matusow says. “And we are taking full advantage of its features. It helps us to operate at peak performance.”
