Lost Highway Films is happy to announce that director Robin Hays will be joining the LHF team. “The first time I viewed Robin’s work I was taken in by the charm, consistency and sincerity found in her narrative approach,” Executive producer Marc Rosenberg explains. “I knew she would be a perfect fit for us.”
A native of Vancouver, Hays has been working on film sets since she was seventeen. Out of film school, she worked in many capacities from props to production manager, and producer. Her producing credits include “Alive in Joburg” and “Adicolor Yellow” for Neill Blomkamp and “Terminus” for Trevor Cawood. However, producing wasn’t the end of the line for Hays, who decided to give directing a go. “I realized that if I was putting together projects, I could do it myself. Turns out I love it.”
Hays has a distinctly fresh take on docu-style and children’s advertising that Marc Rosenberg was eager to include in Lost Highway’s arsenal of talents. “It’s always a wonder to find an innovative filmmaker who brands a personal signature to their work. Robin is one of those finds. She brings a bright and articulate viewpoint to her style of storytelling infused with natural performances.” Some of her directing achievements include: “Adidas Sneaker Head” which was selected for the SHOT’S Young Director’s award as well as the SHOOT New Directors Showcase. Honda with “Blue Skies” took home silver at the digital marketing awards.
For Robin, the best part of being a director is “being able to take ideas and turn them into something tangible that can be shared. Creating, collaborating and meeting new friends to play with is always inspiring.” It’s clear that by bringing Robin on board, Lost Highway is gaining a bright talent. “Her devotion to fresh, fun and insightful film work illuminates her gallery of spots,” Rosenberg beams.

“Ǝvolution” Comes Full Circle At The Chelsea Film Festival
The Chelsea Film Festival, running from October 16th through October 20th, 2024, at Regal Cinemas here in Union Square, is set to host the East Coast premiere of Ǝvolution, a thought-provoking experimental micro-short film that proves big ideas can come in small packages and in perfect circles.
In just 1 minute 16 seconds, this cinematic gem by Award-Winning Director Romina Schwedler, with original music by Argentine Composer Ignacio Montoya Carlotto, explores a cycle as old as time: life leads to progress, progress leads to destruction, and destruction, well, leads back to life. But is this vicious circle unbreakable? Ǝvolution suggests the answer is yes, unless we decide to open our eyes.
Inspired by the overwhelming number of recent events that threaten human existence, Ǝvolution, possibly the shortest film in this 12th edition of the festival, plays out entirely through the symbolism of circles, cleverly illustrating —in the blink of an eye— the repeating patterns of history, and confronting viewers with the uncomfortable truth that our so-called “progress” may, in fact, be guiding us to our own ruin.Premiering at the Regal 14 Union Square, New York City, on October 18, 2024, at 11 a.m., Romina Schwedler's micro-short, featuring Leah Young with cinematography by Alan J. Carmona, will be sure to spark conversations longer than the film itself! Forcing viewers to reconsider the true meaning of evolution, not just as a biological process, but as a reflection of our collective journey as humans.
With a string of festival appearances across the globe, including CineGlobe at CERN (Switzerland/France), Oscar®... Read More
