DGA President Michael Apted today announced the host and presenters for the seventh Directors Guild of America Honors, to be held at the DGA Theater in New York City on Thursday, October 16, 2008 and followed by an after-party at Nobu 57.
Comedian, actor, talk-show host and author Richard Belzer will serve as the event’s Master of Ceremonies. Belzer is currently filming his tenth season as Detective John Munch on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit; his first novel, “I Am Not A Cop,” arrives in stores this week. He previously hosted DGA Honors in 2002 and 2003.

F. Murray Abraham (Amadeus) will present to Director Milos Forman (One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Amadeus);
Taylor Hackford (Ray, An Officer and a Gentleman) and Paris Barclay (In Treatment, Cold Case) will present to Congressman John Conyers, Jr. (D-MI), Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee;
Barbara Kopple (American Dream) will present to Irwin Young, Chair of DuArt Film and Video;
Martin Scorsese (Goodfellas, The Departed) will present to Robert Rosen, Dean of the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television; and
Sam Waterston (Law & Order) and members of the casts of the three Law & Order series will present to Creator/Producer Dick Wolf (Law & Order, Law & Order: SVU, Law & Order: Criminal Intent).
