Northern Lights is pleased to welcome Mixer/Sound Designer/Composer Damon Trotta to their audio team. A veteran in his field, Trotta brings a wealth of knowledge, distinctive style, and creative finesse to his new home. His extensive roster of clients includes USA Network, Animal Planet, HBO, AMC, and the NBA.
“Damon brings a unique perspective to each project he works on, and he shares our commitment to top-notch creativity,” says Northern Lights Partner David Gioiella. “I was looking for a place that put creativity first,” adds Trotta. “Based on our prior collaborations, the choice to join the team was easy.”
Trotta’s addition is also an expansion for Northern Lights, which now has two audio studios. “Damon is exactly the kind of person we want to grow with,” says Northern Lights Partner Mark Littman. “He excels at a variety of projects from promos to commercials to long form, whether designing, mixing, or composing. He fits in with our team philosophy and our growth strategy perfectly.”
Trained at the Center for Media Arts, Trotta became a premier talent at NYC’s Sound Hound. Trotta has worked with some of the industry’s most legendary talent including Walter Cronkite, James Brown, and Issac Hayes. His reworking of Shaft, complete with new lyrics and vocals from Hayes, for USA Network’s Monk made pop culture history, and received a coveted Promax award. Last year, he won a Telly award for Animal Planet’s Wild 100 tease, and scored the opening music for their original series, Living With The Wolfman. He won over Sci-Fi fans with his chilling sound design for Battlestar Galactica, which earned many Promax awards. Trotta has also worked extensively with the NBA, mixing both promos and their All-Star Game Half-time shows over the years. Most recently, Trotta restored audio and mixed the History Channel’s highly acclaimed documentary special, 102 Minutes That Changed America.
In addition to his television work, Trotta’s film credits include 2007’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and The Restoration of My Fair Lady: More Loverly Than Ever, re-released for the film’s 40th anniversary. Also an accomplished musician, Trotta founded <a href="(www.sluggosgoonmusic.com)“>Sluggo’s Goon Music, ((www.sluggosgoonmusic.com)) a music collective and independent record label.
