“We are very excited to see Matt downunder,” says Festival Director Simon Velvin. “Matt’s extensive career has seen him work across a number of creative disciplines. His wealth of knowledge and depth in experiential projects is certain to move some minds.”
At Semi-Permanent, Matt Checkowski will discuss creating a journey that goes well beyond the walls of experience design; one that brings people together for a tactile discovery that is individual, special and sharable.
Matt Checkowski’s passion for brand empowered, dynamic storytelling can be seen in his diverse and original content projects. From directing a world-wide theatrically released feature film to digital content for an opera, to the first ever pop up museum for scent: All were conceived with a design mindset and story at heart. He was also the co-creator of the dream sequences in Steven Spielberg’s Minority Report, which seamlessly weave cinema, design and a dynamic gestural interface into the fabric of the science fiction masterpiece.
“Semi-Permanent has set the stage when it comes to international design conferences and I’m really excited to be a part of it,” notes Checkowski. “I think it’s becoming ever more important to support places and experiences that encourage the person-to-person exchange of ideas and stories, and SP has assembled an amazing group of visionaries. I can’t wait.”
