Director CRISTINA ANDERLINI just wrapped a :30 TV spot for THQ‘s highly anticipated KUNG FU PANDA 2 video game on Kinect for Xbox 360 with clients The Ayzenberg Group, THQ and Dreamworks.
The unique elements of the “Kung Fu Panda 2” game on Kinect for Xbox 360, are it allows the players to use their bodies as the controller and master the punches, kicks, ducks and blocks in order to become a kung fu master. Learning dynamic moves such as “Feet of Fury” and “Thunder Strike” will engage the player for hours and take them on a new adventure as they battle never-before-seen enemies with Po and the Furious Five. But the most awesome element of all is the player’s ability to have Po follow their every move.
The initial inspiration for the action-packed spot was the innovative and highly stylized feature film, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World directed by Edgar Wright. “When Ayzenberg approached me with the original concept, I jumped at the chance to work with them on the project”, Anderlini said, “I love the idea of integrating the graphics into the moves of the player to highlight the dynamic feature of the Kinect console. I think players are going to have a blast becoming Po and getting their Kung Fu Awesomeness on.”
The commercial was shot in Hollywood on the RED ONE camera. By taking advantage of the RED camera’s speed ramping feature as well as incorporating swish pans and visually stunning graphics in post, the resulting commercial showcases the key features of the game in an action-packed, visually stunning spot.
“Working with Ayzenberg is always an extremely fun, collaborative effort so I was thrilled to be given the opportunity to work with them, THQ and Dreamworks on this very creative project.” says Anderlini, “My goal with this spot was to showcase the player’s ability to jump right into the game and be Po and feel an enormous sense of accomplishment when they finally become a kung fu master.”
