The first-ever “Behind the Camera House” will launch in Park City during this year’s 2025 Sundance Film Festival, inviting industry professionals, creatives, and media to engage in a day of community building through meaningful conversations, insightful panel discussions, and unique networking opportunities on Monday, January 27, 2025. Produced by Impact24 PR, co-hosted by Goodside, and led by programmer Jocelyne Roman, the event will take place at 1167 Woodside Ave, Park City, UT 84060.
This one-day activation will serve as a dedicated space for creatives to hang out and connect with other festival attendees and the filmmaking community, with special attention and spotlight towards behind-the-camera crafts including picture editing, composition, sound design, costume design, and production design. The event will also give attendees an inside look at the creative processes behind the films featured at the prestigious Sundance Film Festival with exclusive panels. Showcasing industry leaders, filmmakers, and creatives from across the globe, each panel promises to be a deep dive into the artistry and craftsmanship of contemporary cinema.
The day begins at 10:00 a.m. MT with the Behind the Camera House Breakfast, co-hosted by panelists from the first panel of the day – “Shaping the Narrative with Post-Production Artists.” The panel will showcase how creatives turn raw footage into compelling stories through artistry and innovation. Featured panelists include editors Brett W. Bachman, ACE (Rabbit Trap) and Daysha Broadway, ACE (Ricky), composer Jeff Morrow (Sally), and supervising sound editor/re-recording mixer Matt Drake from Elemental Post (The Wedding Banquet).
The “Creative Voices in Indie Filmmaking” panel highlights the unique perspectives and approaches shaping independent cinema. Moderated by Marissa Hill (Co-Founder and Executive Producer of Shade Studios/Shade TV), the panel will feature editors Chris Passig (Middletown) and Stephania Dulowski (Bunnylovr), hair department head Cynthia Vanis (Oh Hi), producer Jiarui Guo (EP on The Brutalist), and more to be announced.
The panel series concludes with “Frame by Frame with Creative Artists,” an exploration of the creative craft behind independent films. Featured on the panel are composer Brian Steckler (Sunfish (and Other Stories on Green Lake), costume designer Ruth Araujo (Sunfish (and Other Stories on Green Lake)), production designer Carmen Navis (If I Had Legs I’d Kick You), and editor Shawn Paper, ACE (Love, Brooklyn) with No Film School Founder Ryan Koo moderating the conversation.
Following each panel, the Behind the Camera House will host networking mixers, allowing attendees to connect with like-minded professionals and creatives. A special extended mid-day mixer from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., will feature WikiPortraits, a photo studio that will take high-quality portraits for Wikimedia Commons and personal use. Attendees will also have first access to learn about new behind-the-camera focused pilot programs from Impact24 PR, including networking-focused strategies and personal brand development initiatives.
The day culminates in the highly anticipated Goodside Dumpling Making Party, a long-standing Sundance Film Festival tradition. This annual celebration brings together filmmakers, industry leaders, and festival-goers for an evening of camaraderie, delicious dumplings, and vibrant conversation.
