Partner and editor Bob Ackerman of The Colonie has had a busy month that included finishing the Levi’s Dockers spot Phone Booth with DraftFCB San Francisco.
Phone Booth features various phone booths around the world that have long since been abandoned. The piano music is melancholy and slightly eerie as winds blow trash bags, tumbleweeds and dust past booths identified by flickering dying lights, broken glass, graffiti and overgrown foliage. “When the very last phone booth crumbles into dust,” the voiceover reads, “where will all the superheroes change their clothes?” The music then pauses and takes an uplifting, hopeful turn as a man steps onto the steps of his walk-up and adjusts his workbag revealing a Dockers logo on his back khaki-clad hip. “Probably at home.”
This spot is set to be released in cinemas throughout Europe. “It’s so great to be able to work on such a unique and exciting piece,” Ackerman expresses. “Belgian director Bram Coppens gave it an international feel that communicates the scope and beauty of its message.”
Ackerman also praised the agency and client for their great creative from the top down. “The relationship between DraftFCB San Francisco and Levi’s Dockers stretches back quite far,” he says. “They have a good track record of consistently putting out good work.”
